Whether it’s for an upcoming holiday, birthday or copper anniversary, finding a unique gift is a great way to show someone how much you care. One of the easiest ways to add a special touch is through a gift basket. Not only are gift baskets extremely easy to make, they allow you to take an ordinary gift and transform it into something special. One of our favorite gift baskets to make that are perfect for any occasion is a Moscow Mule gift basket.
Traditionally served in a hammered copper mug, Moscow Mule mugs are absolutely gorgeous on their own. Starting with that base, though, adding the ingredients to make a Moscow Mule from scratch just makes your gift that much better. The person you’re giving a gift to not only receives a beautiful solid copper mug, they get a free drink, too.
So let’s get started!
Creating Your Gift Basket
The best part of creating a Moscow Mule basket is that it is extremely easy to do. All you need are the copper mugs, a bottle of vodka, ginger beer, and a lime. Put the all together in a nice basket, add a recipe card, and that’s it. You have the perfect gift.
Do keep in mind, though, that the main portion of your gift basket is the mug itself. The drinks will eventually be gone but the copper mug will last a lifetime so it is important to make sure you get the right mug.
Find The Right Copper Mug
Started in the ‘40s, Moscow Mules have traditionally been served in copper mugs so you really want to make sure you have a traditional copper mug in your gift basket. While there are a lot of mugs available, a hammered copper mug adds a touch of class and style but keeps with the traditional feel of the drink as well.
Copper mugs are also the perfect solution to a customized gift because they can be etched and engraved. Creating a gift basket for a couple? Give a gift set of “his and hers”, “his and his”, or “hers and hers” mugs. Since copper is the traditional gift for a 7th wedding anniversary, sending engraved anniversary mugs is also an option.
You do want to make sure the mug is solid copper, as real copper is not only the traditional serving cup, it is also able to stay cold for a very long time which makes it ideal for serving drinks in.
Moscow Mule Recipe And Free Printable Card
Once you have decided on which copper mug you want, all that’s left is getting the rest of the items and putting your basket together. Since there are only a few ingredients in a Moscow Mule cocktail you don’t have to worry about buying a lot of things, either. A traditional, easy to create recipe is:
- 4 ounces of ginger beer.
- 2 ounces of vodka.
- 1 Lime wedge.
Pour the ginger beer and vodka in a chilled copper mug, add a squeeze of lime, and serve.
It’s that simple.
To make your gift basket even better, including the recipe with the basket itself is a nice touch. We have created a printable recipe card that you can use in your own basket. Click here to download.
Easy To Customize
Remember, baskets are a great way to add a personal touch to your gifts because they are all about customization. Moscow Mules are great as a traditional recipe, but there are many variations on the drink as well which you can incorporate into your own basket. An Apple Cider Mule, for example, is a perfect holiday variation and all it takes is substituting half the ginger beer for hard apple cider and topping it off with a sprinkle of cinnamon—all items that you could add to your gift basket.
